This is me

This is me

Well I must say that my life has been an interesting one. I've been a Registered Nurse for over 16 years and I have learned a lot about the frailties and strength of the human condition. Life and death, the will to live, and those that give up too easily and fall into despair . I've seen the very young who have no chance of survival but seem to make the most of their short lives. I have also seen teenagers and young adults take life for granted and play Russian roulette with their lives thinking that they are invincible and learning the hard way with no second chance. I've seen so much drug abuse, alcoholism, and drug overdoses that it makes me sick inside.

There are those who are dying and with families active in their final journey. Families who have never been close or loving toward one another, the dying process of their loved one brings them closer together. I have also seen the greedy side of people who fight over their dying family about what belongings their taking and wanting their loved ones' lives to be extended my medical means for selfish purposes. I've held the hands of many patients as they lay dying, because they have no family and I am the sole person to bear witness to their passing and to their legacy. I have to say I am honored to bear witness to the passing of these people. The dying process can be sad and scary but also at the same time very beautiful.
